Ronald McDonald House® Alberta is a home-away-from-home for families with sick or injured children, providing comfort, support, and a sense of community during their most challenging times. Inspired by the vision of Dr. Audrey Evans, a pioneering pediatric oncologist who co-founded the first Ronald McDonald House in 1974, Ronald McDonald House® Alberta opened its first Houses in Calgary and Edmonton in 1985. Since then, we have grown to serve families across the province with additional Houses in Red Deer and Medicine Hat. These Houses ensure families can stay close to their children receiving vital medical care.

We know that a family with a sick child is a sick family. A Ronald McDonald House® in Alberta provides a warm, compassionate and comfortable environment where families can share experiences, receive respite and distraction, eat a warm homemade meal and rest, all while caring for their child at the hospital nearby.

Ronald McDonald House® Alberta is part of a global network of Houses, Family Rooms, Care Mobiles and Comfort Carts prioritizing family-centered care through delivery of our unique core programs. Ronald McDonald House® Alberta operates four Houses offering private family suites, and Comfort Carts that deliver bedside services in hospital.
